My love of earrings is well known. As is my desire to support and be a cheerleader for rad local businesses. I am also quite partial to pom poms. Merge these three things together and you get Altair Melbourne.
Welcome to this in the first post of a new series I’m doing on rad, local biz’s. I have a whole host of extremely awesome bizs lined up to share over the following weeks. With Christmas edging closer and closer, it is my hope that these bizs will be your go to’s for all your pressie shopping. I know they’re all on my lists!
So, onto my first feature; Altair Melbourne…

I asked Amy some fun questions about herself and some serious questions about her biz.

1. Who is your biz?
Altair Melbourne
2. What does your biz do?
I make Pom Pom earrings, polymer clay jewellery and custom Pom Pom decorations for people’s homes
3. Where are you & your biz located?
Seaford, Victoria. I hand make everything from my house.
4. Why did you get started in your biz?
I’ve always loved being creative but never really found anything I really stuck at until this. After my daughter was born and I returned to work full time, I needed something fun that I enjoyed and having always had a passion for making things myself I started making Pom Pom earrings. The passion has just grown from there. I love working with wool and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.
5. What is your background?
I’ve been a Personal Assistant for over 10 years so finding a creative outlet has been amazing.
6. Where can we buy your pieces?
At Yo-Ko Original in Seaford, some local markets (Mornington Racecourse twilight market on 16 November, Little Beauty twilight 30 November& day market 14 December and Seaford Handmade Market twilight 14 December & day market 15 December), Market Fair, Ferntree Gully and you can always pick up from my home in Seaford on request.
7. Who would you love to collaborate with?
There are so many amazing creative people in Melbourne who I’d love to chat with about doing a fun project together.
8. Who inspires you?
I like to think I take inspiration from many people I have met along the way. My daughter definitely inspires me to be more driven.
9. Anything else?!
I will only be taking custom orders from January onwards as I’m taking some time out to have a baby 
Have you fallen in love with these gorg poms & polymer studs? I already have some studs and they are amazing and cannot wait to get some poms! If only I could decide on a colour!!!
